CALDWELL, N.J. -- Junior forward
Taina Gervais (Port-au-Prince, Haiti) had the game of her life in this one, scoring four goals as Caldwell Women's Soccer (2-1-1) defeated Molloy University (1-3-0) 6-2 in Caldwell's home opener.
After trailing 1-0, the Cougars scored four straight goals to take a commanding 4-1 lead. Senior forward
Melissa Martinez (Elizabeth, N.J.) had a big game too, assisting on three of Caldwell's goals and scoring a goal of her own.
Also contributing to the dominating performance by Caldwell were junior forward
Rosio Cardenas (Forked River, N.J.) and freshman forward Ana Pinzon (Medellin, Colombia) with an assist each. Freshman midfielder
Suri Silva (Newark, N.J.) capped off the Cougars' furious four goal rally with her first goal of the season.
Caldwell's defense stepped up when it mattered most, stopping 13 corner kick chances from Molloy. Junior
Ariana Gaminara (Las Vegas, Nev.) (six saves in 90 minutes) helped keep Molloy at bay in the win.
The Cougars will travel to face University of New Haven in West Haven, Connecticut on Tuesday at 4 PM.
