LAKEWOOD, N.J. -- Junior RF
Jessica Klein (Trevose, Pa.) and junior shortstop
Ashleigh Tavaska (Jackson, N.J.) had three hits each and four different Cougars drove in runs as softball dropped a pair of CACC contests at Georgian Court, 6-2 and 4-2 at SEI Field on Sunday.
In the opener, the Cougars scored in the second on an RBI forceout by freshman CF
Brooke Freschi (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.). An inning later, freshman LF
Taylor Quinn (Colonie, N.Y.) drove in a run on a groundout. Klein and junior catcher
Brooke Martin (Oakland, Maine) had two hits each for the Cougars.
In the nightcap, Caldwell (15-13, 3-5 CACC) scored twice in the fifth on a run-scoring single by junior 2B
Grace Vondracek (Odessa, N.Y.) followed by an RBI double by Tavaska, who also tripled in the game, to pull to within 3-2. But Georgian Court (11-13, 3-1 CACC) added an insurance tally in the fifth for the final margin.
Freshman righty
Katie O'Connor (Charlottesville, Va.) pulled double duty, relieving in the opener and pitching a complete game two.Â
Caldwell next visits Holy Family on Tuesday for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
