Cipot, Marzooq Score Four Each, Johnson Puts In First Career Goal in Women's Lacrosse Win at UDC

Schubert-Brown Collects Season-Best Three Points, Schneider Sharp with 12 Saves

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Freshman midfielder Tiana Cipot (No. Brunswick, N..J.) and graduate attacker Tala Marzooq (Manama, Bahrain) had four goals each, sophomore midfielder Wyette Schubert-Brown (Chatsworth, N.J.) had a career-best three points and junior midfielder Crystal Johnson (Gloucester City, N.J.) scored her first career goal, leading Caldwell women's lacrosse to a 16-8 triumph over UDC in our nation's capital on Wednesday.

Sophomore GK Sarahkate Schneider (Somerset, N.J.) recorded 12 saves in goal for her best save percentage of the season, facing 27 shots in all.

The Cougars (3-8)  took control late in the first quarter, erasing an early 2-1 deficit with seven straight goals, by five different players. Graduate midfielder Janea Kelty (West Milford, N.J.) and Cipot had two each during the run, while Schubert-Brown, sophomore midfielder Meghan Korzevinski (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) and junior defender Brady Kells (Parsippany, N.J.) putting in the others.

The Cougars put a six-goal run together in the second, carrying over into the third quarter, to put the game away at 14-3. Marzooq started the push with a goal from Cipot, who had three assists on the day, with just under five minutes left in the second, and finished it with an unassisted tally at 11:28 of the third. Johnson, Cipot, Korzevinski and sophomore midfielder Megan Molinelli (East Windsor, N.J.) each scoring once in the spurt.

The Cougars complete the season with a CACC matchup at Wilmington on Friday.
