POMONA, N.Y.. -- Sophomore second baseman Stephen Young Jr. (Middlesex, N.J.) had three hits and drove in two runs and senior RF Zach Saunders (Adelphi, Md.) and junior left fielder Liam Lombardi (Stony Point, N.Y.) had two hits and three RBI apiece as Caldwell baseball fell to CACC rival Dominican, 11-9 at Clover Stadium on Tuesday.

The Cougars (8-23, 7-14 CACC) took a 5-3 lead with three in the fourth, keyed by a two-run double by Saunders followed by an RBI single up the middle by Young Jr. After Dominican (15-28, 9-12) went ahead, 9-5, Caldwell battled back again with three in the sixth, on an RBI double by Saunders and two-run home run by Lombardi.

Caldwell and Dominican battle in a doubleheader on Friday, with the third and final CACC North playoff spot still in the balance. Game one at Kiwanis Oval begins at 1 p.m.
