GARDEN CITY, N.Y. -- Junior shortstop Ashleigh Tavaska (Jackson, N.J.) drove in two seventh-inning runs after graduate 3B Riley Riendeau (Lincoln, R.I.) had plated one in the sixth, but Caldwell softball's game two rally came up short in a 6-3 loss in Game Two of Sunday's doubleheader with Adelphi at Janet L. Ficke Field.

Adelphi won the opener, 3-0, despite a fine outing in the circle by senior righthander Allison Winters (Blairstown, N.J.), who tossed the complete game, fanning three.

Tavaska had two hits, including the seventh-inning double that scored junior 2B Grace Vondracek (Odessa, N.Y.) and junior LF Jessica Klein (Trevose, Pa.), but Caldwell (20-20) was unable to plate the tying runs.

The Cougars step back into CACC play with Jefferson on Sunday (1 p.m.) and Bloomfield on Tuesday (2:30 p.m.) at Caldwell Athletic Field.
