WATERBURY, Conn. -- Junior CF Liam Lombardi (Stony Point, N.Y.) and sophomore 3B Michael Cruz (Miami) had two hits each as Caldwell baseball fell at Post, 7-1, in a CACC matchup at LaMoy Field on Wednesday.

Cruz's fourth-inning single drove in sophomore second baseman Stephen Young Jr. (Middlesex, N.J.) with the only run for the Cougars (8-18, 7-9 CACC). 

Sophomore righty Alfonso Esposito (Middlesex, N.J.) started and pitched four innings. Senior righthander Nikko Matos (Roselle Park, N.J.) gave the team three solid innings of relief.

The teams play again on Saturday, when Caldwell hosts the doubleheader beginning at noon at Kiwanis Oval.
