Cipot Nets Five for Women's Lacrosse in Tough OT Defeat to Chestnut Hill on Senior Day

Korzevinski, Marzooq Tally Five Point Each

W. CALDWELL, N.J. -- Freshman midfielder Tiana Cipot (No. Brunswick, N..J.) scored a season-high five goals and graduate attacker Tala Marzooq (Manama, Bahrain) and sophomore midfielder Meghan Korzevinski (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) had five points each as Caldwell women's lacrosse fell to CACC rival Chestnut Hill at Essex Valley Field on Wednesday.

The game was a tight battle throughout, with the Cougars (2-8, 1-7 CACC) battling back from a 9-5 deficit with a run of five of the next six goals to tie the game at 10, including two markers by Korzevinski and one each by Graduate midfielder Janea Kelty (West Milford, N.J.), sophomore midfielder Megan Molinelli (East Windsor, N.J.) and Marzooq, who scored the equalizer with 5:05 left in the third. After the teams traded goals, the Cougars took the lead with 5:11 left on an unassisted marker by Cipot for a 12-11 edge.

But CHC (2-9, 1-6) tied the game to send it to overtime, then got the winning marker less than two minutes into the extra session.

Junior Brady Kells (Parsippany, N.J.) had a strong all-around game for the Cougars, nabbing four ground balls and causing four turnovers, both team highs.

Before the game, Caldwell honored its graduate students Kelty, Marzooq and defender Jada Sainvilus (Neptune, N.J.) and senior defender Reese Sherwood (Salem, Ore.)  for Senior Day.
