Ashleigh Tavaska (Jackson, N.J.) blasted a three-run shot the nightcap as Caldwell softball split a doubleheader with Assumption, falling in the opener, 9-4, and winning game two, 4-0, on Sunday at Caldwell Athletic Fiels.
Riendeau also had an RBI single in the sixth for a 2-for-4, three RBI game. Freshman DP
Brooke Freschi (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.) drove in the other Cougars run in the sixth with a sacrifice fly.

Allison Winters (Blairstown, N.J.) was the star of game two, tossing a five-hit shutout, walking two and fanning three. Junior 1B
Brooke Martin's (Oakland, Maine) two-out RBI single in the fourth broke the scoreless tie, then an inning later Tavaska's blast to deep right center cemented the win, earning the Cougars (7-7) a four-game weekend split with the Greyhounds (4-8).
Caldwell opens CACC play on Tuesday with a doubleheader vs. Post, beginning at 2:30 p.m. at Caldwell Athletic Field.
