CALDWELL, N.J. --Graduate
Sophia DeMauro (New York) poured in a game-high 21 points, including three of five three pointers, pacing Caldwell women's basketball to 69-60 win over Georgian Court in CACC action at the Newman Center on Saturday.
The Cougars trailed, 40-34, at halftime, eventually taking the lead late in the third on free throws by soph guard
Lucy Coogan (Kilkenny, Ireland) and one by soph guard
Amyah Bray (Manchester, N.J.). A Coogan layup gave the Cougars a three-point lead, 51-48, heading into the fourth quarter.
After the Lions (3-15, 3-6) crept to within a point, the Cougars seized control, consecutive three pointers by Bray and Coogan establishing CU's biggest lead of the day at 60-53 midway through the fourth.
Bray's three with 1:34 left extended the lead to nine at 66-57 and was effectively the dagger that secured the win.
Coogan finished with 18 points, while Bray contributed 12 points and five rebounds, and
Jahnel Lewis distributed a game-high seven assists for the Cougars (5-14, 2-9).
CU next hosts Wilmington in a non-league bonus contest on Tuesday at 5:30.
