Lucy Coogan (Kilkenny, Ireland) scored a game high 24 points and freshman guard
Jahnel Lewis (Jersey City, N.J.) notched a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds but it wasn't enough as Caldwell Women's Basketball fell, 63-52, in a CACC matchup with Bridgeport at the Newman Center on Wednesday night.
The Cougars led by as many at 10 in the first half, a pair of free throws by Coogan with 2:56 left in the second quarter staking the hosts to a 28-18 lead. UB (8-15, 7-5 CACC) was able to whittle the lead down to one with a late 9-0 run to close the half.
UB took a slim two-point lead into the fourth quarter, extending to nine with a 7-0 run to start the period. Caldwell (6-16, 2-10 CACC) would get no closer than four the rest of the way.
Lewis added three assists and four steals to her stellar day, and Coogan pitched in with five rebounds.
The Cougars return to the Newman Center on Saturday when they host Holy Family in a special 3 p.m. CACC contest.
