FLUSHING, N.Y. -- Star sophomore point guard
Jah'Nel Lewis (Jersey City, N.J.) led Caldwell with 15 points, as the Cougars (5-5) beat the Queens College Knights (5-5) 57-50 at the South Gym.
Junior guard/forward
Lucy Coogan (Kilkenny, Ireland) finished right behind teammate Lewis in scoring with 13 points. Coogan picked up a team-high seven rebounds.
Sophomore guard
Neysa Aguilar (Middlesex, N.J.) scored 10 points.
Caldwell got out to a fast start in the first half. The Cougars pounced early, limiting the Knights to just 4 points in the first quarter.
CU's largest lead of the game was a commanding 19 point advantage (37-18) in the third quarter.
Queens College had attempted to come back, cutting the deficit to 10 (41-31) at the :22 mark of the third quarter.
Caldwell was able to hold off the Knights in the fourth quarter, as the Cougars clawed their way back to a .500 record overall.
The Cougars will travel to Vermont to take on the Saint Michael's College Purple Knights in another non-conference battle on Saturday at 12 PM.
