DeAngelo Horn (Castle Rock, Colo.) joined teammate, senior forward
Derrick Bueno (Palisades Park, N.J.) in the 1,000 point club, but men's basketball (8-3) fell in a close one to a red-hot West Chester University of Pennsylvania Golden Rams team (8-2) 80-76 at the Newman Center.
Horn led the Cougars with 16 points and six rebounds.Â
The junior point guard duo of
Melvin Evans (Bronx, N.Y.) and
Kirk Parsons (Newark, N.J.) both got into double-figures and shot well from the field. Evans made six of his eight field goal attempts and scored 13 points with five assists.Â
Parsons scored 10 points with two triples made. Bueno scored 11 points and had five assists.
Caldwell fought hard all game long against a West Chester team that was on a seven-game winning streak.
The first half was tightly contested with both teams going back and forth.
CU's largest deficit was an 11-point lead by West Chester (49-38) at the 18:30 mark of the 2nd half.
The Cougars got within two points twice (55-53) and (74-72) at the 14:47 and :54 marks.
Caldwell will travel to Massachusetts and take on the Bentley Falcons in another non-conference bout next Saturday at 1 PM.
