ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Senior
Joey Datta (Edison, N.J./Edison H.S.) placed second and two other Cougars finished in the top 50 as Caldwell men's cross country was a strong ninth of 18 teams at the NCAA DII East Region Championship at Matt St. James Cross Country Trails on Saturday morning.
Datta clocked in at 21.21.1, less than six seconds behind Regional champion Owen White of Roberts Wesleyan. Datta's finish qualified the three-time CACC champion for the NCAA Division II National Championships in Sacramento, Calif., on Nov. 23.
Datta was joined in the top 50 by senior
Alfredo Oidor (Garfield, N.J.) in 33rd (32:46.9) and freshman
Luke Molyneux (Ocean Township, N.J.) in 45th (33:16.3).
Also turning in strong performances in the 10K race were junior
Chad Manning (Belleville, N.J.) in 97th (35:13.9), soph
Logan Kudla (Bloomfield, N.J.) in 101st (35:36.1), sophomore
Alex Jamieson (Portree, Scotland) in 117th (36:38.2), and freshman
Nicholas Montiel (Totowa, N.J.) in 135th (39:20.1).
