ORANGEBURG, N.Y. Â -- Â Caldwell men's basketball (3-0) exploded for 52 points in the second half to pull away from the Franklin Pierce Ravens (0-3) 94-74 in the Daniel Sullivan Memorial Tournament at the Hennessy Center.Â
The junior duo of guard
Melvin Evans (Bronx, N.Y.) and guard/forward
De'Angelo Horn (Castle Rock, Colo.) scored 21 points each in the big win.
Junior guard
Kirk Parsons (Newark, N.J.) had an efficient game from the field, going 5-8 on FGs and scoring 14 points.
The first half between Caldwell and Franklin Pierce was very close, with both teams going back and forth. The Cougars held a 42-37 lead at the half.
The second half was a different story, Caldwell went on an offensive outburst and limited the Ravens to another 37 points.
CU played outstanding defense, forcing 26 turnovers and 11 steals. Â
Junior forward
Moussa Ngom (Dakar, Senegal) grabbed 10 rebounds and senior forward
Derrick Bueno (Palisades Park, N.J.) dished out eight assists to lead the Cougars.
Caldwell will face East Stroudsburg University in their second game of the Daniel Sullivan Memorial Tournament on Sunday at 6 PM.
