CALDWELL, N.J. -- Junior goalkeeper
Ariana Gaminara (Las Vegas) was a stalwart in net, making two PK saves in the shootout as the second-seeded Caldwell Cougars prevailed in a thrilling CACC Quarterfinal Match against the Chestnut Hill College Griffins at Caldwell Athletics Field. The teams were deadlocked at 0-0 following regulation and two 10-minute overtime periods before CU prevailed, 4-1, in the shootout.
Senior defender
Isabella Vitella (Roseland, N.J.), freshman forward Ana Pinzon (Medellin, Colombia), graduate student defender
Megan Feehan (Point Pleasant, N.J.) and freshman midfielder
Suri Silva (Newark, N.J.) each scored goals in the penalty kick shootout. Silva's strike sent CU into the semifinals after CHC had missed their last two shots.
The two teams went back and forth in regulation and in both frames of overtime. Pinzon had the two best chances for Caldwell, hitting a shot off the post and another off the crossbar.
Junior forward
Rosio Cardenas (Forked River, N.J.) led the Cougars with four total shots, two of them on goal.
Caldwell (11-4-2) will host the No. 6 Dominican Chargers, who upset the No. 3 Wilmington Wildcats, in the semifinals on Thursday at 1 PM.
