CALDWELL, N.J. -- Senior middle blocker/outside hitter
Alexa McEwan (Beachwood, N.J.) and junior outside hitter
Wyette Schubert-Brown (Chatsworth, N.J.) each led Caldwell with 16 kills as Women's Volleyball (0-12, 0-4) fell to their CACC rival Wilmington Wildcats (8-8, 4-1) 3-1 at the Newman Center.
After dropping the first two very competitive sets, including a wild 31-29 second set, the Cougars trailed, 25-24, facing match point in the third. But consecutive kills by McEwan gave the Cougars a chance to put away the set. WU scored a kill to tie it, but a kill by freshman setter
Grace Moliterno (Chester, N.Y.) followed by a Wildcats hitting error pulled CU to within two sets to one.
Sophomore libero
Ava Railton (Santa Rose Beach, FL) was a defensive force, collecting 19 digs for Caldwell. Junior setter
Jordan Mack (Yorba Linda, Calif.) had a team-best 23 assists while Moliterno added 22.
Senior hitter
Natalie Piper (Long Beach, Calif.) had a season-best 10 kills.
Caldwell will try to earn its first win of the season at nearby CACC rival Bloomfield College on Tuesday at 7 PM.
