BLOOMFIELD, N.J. -- Junior setter/hitter
Jordan Mack (Yorba Linda, Calif.) had a huge all-around day with nine kills, 10 assists and four aces, senior middle blocker
Alexa McEwan (Chatsworth, N.J.) added eight kills and two blocks and junior hitter
Wyette Schubert-Brown (Chatsworth, N.J.) dropped down seven kills as Caldwell volleyball won its first match of the season, a 3-0 triumph over Bloomfield in CACC play at Bloomfield Gym.
The win also marked the first victory for Head Coach Héctor Colón.
Trailing, 7-5, in the first set, the Cougars scored seven of the next eight points, capped by a service ace by junior DS
Torrien Jones (Camp Springs, Md.) and would not trail again in the set. Another 7-0 run included an ace and kill by freshman setter
Grace Moliterno (Chester, N.Y.). The Cougars closed the set on kills by Mack and senior hitter
Katherine Putsky (Rockaway, N.J.) to win 25-17.
It was more of the same in the second as CU erased an early 3-0 deficit in an early battle with the Bears (0-10, 0-5). Then, trailing 6-5, a 7-0 run gave the Cougars a commanding advantage before another 8-0 skein helped put the set out of reach for the 25-12 verdict.
Caldwell (1-12, 1-4 CACC) made sure to finish strong, another early run giving the visitors a 12-5 lead, with two kills by McEwan  and one each by Putsky and Schubert-Brown keying the rally. Mack and McEwan recorded the final two kills as CU completed the sweep, 25-14.
