UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- Freshman running back
Curtis McDougald (Elizabeth, N.J.) ran for 84 yards and three touchdowns, all in the first half, as Caldwell Sprint Football rushed for 384 yards in a 48-0 triumph at Molloy University on Friday night at Mitchel Field.
After punting on their first possession, the Cougars scored touchdowns on their next six tries, beginning with a nine-yard run by freshman quarterback
Josh Smith (Parsippany, N.J.) at 8:54. McDougald then scampered five yards to paydirt on the Cougars' next possession for a 13-0 Caldwell advantage. Senior defensive back
Amajuwan Murray (Rahway, N.J.) then blocked a Molloy punt, which was picked up by freshman defensive back
Kyle Lewis (Neptune, N.J.), who returned the kick 48 yards to the end zone for a 20-0 CU lead after the first quarter.
It was much of the same in the second, as McDougald took handoffs for 10 and 44 yards to up the lead to 34-0, before junior receiver
Darius Harrison (Plainfield, N.J.) took a jet sweep to the house with 0:54 left in the half for seven yards as CU built a 41-0 edge.
Smith was efficient in his start under center, completing 3 of 5 passes for 40 yards and rushing for 34 yards on six carries. Freshman RB
Adriel Perez (Elmwood Park, N.J.), (six carries, 62 yards), junior RB
Nasir Tippett (Dunellen, N.J.) (eight carries, 43 yards) and freshman RB
Kyano Jimenez (Clifton, N.J.) (nine carries, 57 yards) were also effective on the ground for Caldwell (1-1).
The CU defense limited Molloy (0-3) to 80 total yards.
