W. CALDWELL, N.J. Â -- Â Sprint football (2-3, 0-3) fell in a close contest against an undefeated UPenn Quakers team (5-0, 1-0) 24-14 at Bonnel Field. Freshman linebacker
Damian Tavares (Pasco, Wash.) had a standout performance, setting a Caldwell school record with 22 tackles.Â
Freshman quarterback
Josh Smith (Parsippany, N.J.) threw for 172 yards for the second time this season and had two touchdowns as well.Â
Junior wide receiver
Arjun Petgrave (Cranford, N.J.) made a fantastic 23 yard catch in the back of the endzone to open up the scoring in the first quarter. The touchdown was Petgrave's 5th of the season.Â
Senior wide receiver
Zaheir Mitchell (Wallington, N.J.) broke away from the Quakers defenders for a 75-yard catch and run touchdown that gave Caldwell a 14-7 lead. Mitchell caught his first touchdown this season.Â
Caldwell will travel to face St. Thomas Aquinas College in a non-conference matchup in Hillburn, N.Y. on Friday at 7 PM.
