CALDWELL, N.J. Â -- Â Freshman midfielder
Haakon Rake's (Lommedalen, Norway) early goal in the sixth minute proved to be the game-winner, as Men's Soccer (6-3-3, 5-1-1) won a tightly contested game against CACC leader Georgian Court Lions (8-5-1, 6-2-0) 1-0 at Caldwell Athletics Field. Rake scored his third goal this year.
Sophomore defender
Yigit Kilic (Istanbul, Türkiye) lofted a lob pass to junior midfielder
Ingebrigt Braenden (Trondheim, Norway) who crossed for a 20 yard boot by Haakon on a laser into the net. The goal was a great one to witness.Â
Kilic collected his second assist of the season and Braenden got his fifth assist.Â
Sophomore
Justin Talbot (Moorestown, N.J.) (one save) made his only save count as he picked up his fourth shutout win.Â
Freshman forward
Jeremy Klinger (Kearny, N.J.) led the Cougars with six total shots and four shots on goal, including an acrobatic diving header in the 65th minute that the GCU keeper made a sprawling save on.
The Cougars (16 points) sit just two points behind Georgian Court in the CACC standings, with one game in hand.
Caldwell will travel to face Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, PA next Saturday at 2 PM.
