NEW YORK -- Junior GK
Ariana Gaminara (Las Vegas) made seven saves and junior forward
Rosio Cardenas (Forked River, N.J.) notched a goal and an assist, pacing Caldwell women's soccer to a 3-0 win over Georgian Court in a CACC matchup at Caldwell Athletic field on Saturday.
Cardenas got the Cougars on the scoreboard first on a nifty header off a perfect corner kick by freshman midfielder
Suri Silva (Newark, N.J.) across the box in the 17th minute.
Then less than a minute into halftime, junior forward
Taina Gervais (Port-Au-Prince, Haiti) beat at least three defenders before depositing her CACC-leading 12th goal and fourth in the past three games into the net to double the hosts' advantage.
With Gaminara making several outstanding saves among her stops, the Cougars continued to put on the pressure, outshooting the Lions (8-4-2, 5-2 CACC), 14-5 in the second half and 22-15 overall.
The shutout was the third straight for the Cougars and Gaminara, who now has five individual shutouts and lowered her goals against average to 0.58, second best in the conference.
Senior forward
Melissa Martinez (Elizabeth, N.J.) sent in the cherry-on-top goal in the 89th minute, taking a feed from Cardenas for the final margin.
The Cougars (9-3-1, 7-1 CACC) moved into a tie with Jefferson with 21 points atop the league standings with their seventh win in the last eight contests. CU visits Chestnut Hill in its next action on Saturday, Oct. 26 in Philadelphia.
