CALDWELL, N.J. -- Freshman Shauntia Alexander (North Plainfield, N.J.) scored a career-high 13 points, making three of four from the floor and seven of eight from the line, and freshman guard Jahnel Lewis (Jersey City, N.J.) had another superb all-around game with 25 points, six rebounds and six steals in a 75-67 loss to Bloomfield in a CACC North contest at the Newman Center Tuesday.

The Cougars (4-12, 1-7 CACC) used a 20-7 surge in the second quarter to take a 36-27 halftime lead, extending to a nine-point advantage 90 seconds into the third quarter on a free throw and three-pointer by graduate forward Sophia DeMauro (New York).

But the Bears (4-14, 2-7) would roar back, scoring eight straight to narrow the deficit to one. A three-point play and layup by Lewis lifted the Cougars to a six-point edge but a 32-20 fourth quarter in favor of the visitors gave BC the victory.

DeMauro posted a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds for the Cougars.

CU next hosts Dominican on Monday at the Newman Center, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
