PHILADELPHIA -- Sophomore
Amyah Bray (Manchester, N.J.) and freshmen
Brianna Carey (Clifton Park, N.Y.) and
Jahnel Lewis (Jersey City, N.J.) had 10 points each as Caldwell women's basketball fell, 72-50, to Jefferson (15-1, 5-0 CACC), ranked #6 and #10 in two national polls this week, on Sunday in CACC action at the Gallagher Center.
The Cougars (4-9, 1-3 CACC) came on strong in the second half, outscoring the hosts by a 43-41 count after a sluggish first 20 minutes. A fourth quarter 17-5 run was Caldwell's best spurt of the day, and included two layups and two three-pointers from Carey and a jumper by junior
KJ Gordon (Latham, N.Y.), capped by a three by Lewis.
For Carey, the 10 points matched her career best. Sophomore
Lucy Coogan (Kilkenny, Ireland) led CU with six rebounds, while Lewis and freshman
Brooke Corbett (Staten Island, N.Y.) contributed five assists each.
The Cougars return to action on Wednesday at Post University at 5:30 p.m.
