BLOOMFIELD, N.J.. - Senior forward
Israel Dos Santos Neto (Salvador Bahia, Brazil) scored two second-half goals within 35 seconds in the 59th minute, doubling what was 2-0 lead to 4-0 as Caldwell men's soccer remained unbeaten in a 5-0 CACC triumph over Bloomfield (1-5, 0-1 CACC) at Foley Field.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Kevin Sabadin (Mantena, Brazil) made six saves in recording his third shutout and fourth win overall for the Cougars (5-0, 1-0).
Graduate forward
Andre Vieira (Union, N.J.) got the Cougars on the board first in the 25th minute, taking a long feed from senior midfielder
Murilo DeOliveira (Sao Paulo, Brazil), beating the defender and slipping it past the keeper for the 1-0 CU lead. Freshman defender
Paul Bruggner (Pforzheim, Germany) found the back of the net 12 minutes later, converting a cross from Vieira as the visitors took a 2-0 lead into the half.
Then it was the Neto Show, as the senior put on a display of footwork, rifling two shots past the BC keeper in the 59th minute to put the game out of reach. DeOliveira had assists on both markers, for a total of three on the evening.
Senior defender
Umar Abdus-Salaam (Casablanca, Morocco) scored his first career goal to cap the scoring, following a deftly placed free kick by Neto and a header by freshman forward
Johan Nieto-Baez (Kearny, N.J.) in front.
The Cougars outshot the Bears, 26-13.
The game marked the first of 11 straight CACC contests as they return home to face Chestnut Hill on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Caldwell Athletic Field.
