WILMINGTON, Del. -- Sophomore hitter
Wyette Schubert-Brown (Chatsworth, N.J.) and senior middle blocker
Amanda Schiltz (Durham, N.C.) had 10 kills each, pacing Caldwell volleyball to a 3-0 win over Goldey-Beacom in the CACC opener for both teams at Joseph West Jones Center on Monday night.
The win marked the first at Caldwell for first-year Head Coach
Sttefany Oliveira.
The Cougars (1-3, 1-0 CACC) jumped out to a 25-14 win in the first set on the strength of five kills by Schubert-Brown and three by Schiltz, closing the set on consecutive kills by the sophomore.
The second set was much of the same, as the visitors went on a 11-3 run to lead, 14-6 and cruise to the 25-17 win.
Goldey Beacom (0-4, 0-1) battled back in the third set, taking a 16-11 lead. But the Cougars rallied with six straight points, five of those coming on the serve of soph libero
Amber Gallo (Toms River, N.J.). The Cougars would later score the last three points of the game, appropriately on kills by Schubert-Brown and Schlitz sandwiched around a ball handling error by GBC.
Senior
Reese Sherwood (Salem, Ore.) was brilliant at setter, finishing with 28 assists and helping the Cougars to a .435 hitting percentage on 43 kills against just six errors. Gallo topped the Cougars defensively with 11 digs and Schubert added eight.
Freshman hitter
Andrea Enabosi (Piscataway, N.J.) had her best game as a Cougar, collecting eight kills and four assists.
Caldwell continues its four-game road trip with a matchup at CACC rival Dominican on Wednesday in Orangeburg, N.Y.
