NEW YORK -- Caldwell senior guard Casey O'Shaugnessy (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and freshman guard 
Darnell Evans (Deer Park, N.Y.) have earned 
Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association First Team Honors, and Head Coach 
Dean Johnson has been named Co-Coach of the Year by the organization. The duo were honored at the 90th Annual All-Met Haggerty Dinner on April 27 at Sleepy Hollow Hotel in Tarrytown, N.Y.
O'Shaughnessy. a second-team All-CACC performer, eclipsed the 1000 point career scoring threshold, averaging 16.7 points to place second in the CACC and added 2.7 assists per contest. It is the second straight year that the Bishop Kearney graduate earned the All-Met first team honor after averaging 15.7 ppg in her junior season. 
Evans, a first-team All-CACC and CACC men's basketball Rookie of the Year selection, averaged 18.8 points and 3.8 assists per game, helping the Cougars to the NCAA East Regional, where his 22 points, six assists and four steals helped Caldwell to a first-round win over host and top seeded St. Anselm. He was also named to the All-CACC Tournament first team. Evans's scoring average ranked second in the league and his assist rate was third best.
Johnson, the CACC men's basketball Coach of the year, guided the Cougars to the 
CACC regular season and tournament championships and appearance in the NCAA Division II East Regional in his first year at the helm after 30 seasons as assistant to Mark Corino. Johnson's squad finished 22-7, which included a mid-season 10-game winning streak.
The All-Met Haggerty Dinner is the longest running, media-managed college basketball awards program in the United States, having originated in the 1930s.
