Jerry Gamone (Union, N.J.) twirled five innings of three-hit relief to earn the victory.
Trailing, 9-7, entering the fifth, the Cougars (13-23, 7-14 CACC) scored one in the fifth on a bases-loaded walk to freshman LF
Stephen Young Jr. (Middlesex, N.J.), two in the sixth on an error and three in the seventh on a double over the wall by junior 1B
Zach Saunders (Adelphi, Md.) and RBI fielder's choice by Anzalone, with an additional run scoring on an error.
Gamone was stelllar, entering to start the fifth and shutting down the Bloomfield (15-27, 10-10) offense, allowing just one run and striking out three in finishing out the game. Saunders also had three hits for Caldwell and drove in two, and freshman 3B
Michael Cruz (Miami) had a first-inning, two-run triple followed by Anzalone's homer that had given the Cougars an early 5-3 lead.
The game was the first of a split three-game CACC series which contininues with a doubleheader on Saturday at Bloomfield. In between, the Cougars take on Pace Wednesday at Kiwanis Oval (3 p.m.).
