CALDWELL, N.J. -- Soph SS
Ashleigh Tavaska's (Jackson, N.J) two-run single capped a five-run sixth inning rally as Caldwell softball (31-11) completed a doubleheader sweep and recorded its eighth straight win, a 7-4 triumph over Pace (22-19) at Caldwell Athletic Field on Saturday.  The Cougars also won game one in come-from-behind fashion, 5-4.
In the opener, the hosts triled, 4-3, entering their half of the fifth. But a double to left center by senior 1B
Maya Rodriguez (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) scored sophomore RF
Jessica Klein (Trevose, Pa.) all the way from first, and pinch runner freshman
Cameron Fehsal (Succasunna, N.J.) came around to score on an error to complete the rally, making a winner of graduate righty
Madison Burns (East Greenbush, N.Y.), who threw three scoreless innings of relief to improve to 11-3.
In the nightcap, the Cougars turned a 4-2 deficit into a win with the explosive fifth, which included an RBI walk by senior 2B
Courtney Grundhauser (Easton, Pa.) and RBI groundout by soph DP
Allison Winters (Blairstown, N.J.) for the go-ahead run before Tavaska's solid single up the middle plated two insurance markers for freshman righthander
Olivia Kennedy (Chenango Forks, N.Y.), who entered in the fifth and tossed three hitless innings of relief to move to 8-2 and lower her CACC-leading ERA to 1.39.
Tavaska had three hits and four RBI on the day and Klein scored three runs in the two games.
