CALDWELL, N.J. -- Freshman C Christopher Bayo (Miami) had hits in both games as Caldwell baseball fell in a home CACC doubleheader to Jefferson (20-14, 9-4 CACC).

In the opener, junior Brian Mackey (New Milford, N.J.) made his first appearance of the season, pitching 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief. 

In game two, trailing 2-0, the Cougars scored two second-inning runs on an error and a single by freshman 3B Michael Cruz (Miami), scoring sophomore LF Anthony Rossomando (Hillsdale, N.J.). Senior righthander Connor Woods (Bethlehem, N.J.) (three innings, one run, five strikeouts) and senior Elias Negron (Virginia Beach, Va.) (two scoreless innings, one hit) stood out in relief for the Cougars (9-21, 3-12) in the makeups of Saturday's rainout.

Caldwell returns to the diamond on Tuesday when they host Bridgeport in a doubleheader at Kiwanis Oval beginning at 2 p.m.
