WEST CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University men's lacrosse junior Jayden Paladino (Hawthorne, N.J.) netted three points in the Cougars 13-7 setback to Franklin Pierce University in a non-conference contest.
The Cougars fall to 1-2, while the Ravens improve to 3-1.
Junior Jason Staudte (Sound Beach, N.J.) and freshman Zakkery Glatfelter (New Oxford, Pa.) each netted goals in the opening quarter, matching the Ravens 2-2 at the 5:07 mark. Franklin Pierce netted two goals in the final 1:15 to lead 4-2 after one quarter.
Paladino scored the lone Caldwell goal in the second quarter, coming in a man-up opportunity as the Ravens build a 10-3 halftime advantage.
Franklin Pierce pushed ahead 12-3 in the third quarter but senior Owen Healey (Washington, N.J.) netted a pair of late goals in the quarter, including a man-up tally, to close the gap to 12-5. Senior Garret Ciccia (Rockaway, N.J.) and Paladino scored the final Cougar goals in the fourth quarter.
Paladino finished with two goals and one assist, while Staudte totaled one goal and one assist. Healey netted two goals, while Glatfelter posted one goal and one assist. Junior Peter Johnson (Cedar Grove, N.J.) dished out two assists.
Senior Tim Livingston (Holtsville, N.Y.) recorded 15 saves in just over 59 minutes in net.
The Cougars travel to nationally ranked Adelphi University for a non-conference contest on Wednesday, March 8 at 7 pm.
