Delaney Ridgell (Mt. Airy, Md.) each had a pair of hits as Caldwell softball won its 10th straight,, 5-1 over Goldey Beacom in the opener of a doubleheader at Jackson Complex. The Lightning came back to win the second game, 4-2, despite a two-run home run by senior 2B

The Cougars got off to a 5-0 lead after three innings, with an RBI single by senior left fielder
Emma Cooney (Livingston, N.J.) in the first followed by two-run singles by Tavaska in the second and Ridgell in the third accounting for the runs. Culver cruised, walking none and allowing just a run on three singles for her fourth win of the year.
In game two, Grundhauser launched a two-run shot in the third to give Caldwell a 2-1 lead, but the Lightning (23-11, 3-3 CACC) plated two in their half of the third and an insurance run in the fifth to secure the win. The Cougars had the tying runs on in the seventh, but a fly out ended the game. Freshman
Olivia Kennedy (Chenango Forks, N.Y.) threw two perfect innings of relief for Caldwell (13-8, 6-1).
Caldwell visits Thomas Jefferson on Sunday in Philadelphia in its next action.
