PHILADELPHIA - Senior
Mariah Culver (Owego, N.Y.) tossed five scoreless, one-hit innings in the opener and freshman
Olivia Kennedy (Chenango Forks, N.Y.) spun a three-hitter in the nightcap as Caldwell softball (15-8, 8-1 CACC) swept a pair of games at CACC foe Jefferson on Sunday, 7-0 and 4-1.
In game one, Caldwell rolled a seven in the fourth inning, the big hits a bases-loaded RBI single by sophomore DP
Brooke Martin (Oakland, Maine) followed by a booming two-run double to left center by soph SS
Ashleigh Tavaska (Jackson, N.J.) for a 5-0 Cougars lead. Culver, who faced one batter above the minimum in her five frames of work, and graduate
Kayla Daly (Babylon, N.Y.) made those runs stand up, combining on a three-hit blanking of the Rams (9-11, 4-4). Tavaska, senior 1B
Maya Rodriguez (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and  sophomore DP
Allison Winters (Blairstown, N.J.) had two hits each in the 10-hit Cougars attack.
In game 2, Kennedy was equally dominant in the circle, permitting just one unearned run in a complete game effort, fanning three. A three-run third was all she would need, with RBI by  sophomore RF
Jessica Klein (Trevose, Pa.), Rodriguez and Winters providing the cushion. Klein and senior left fielder
Emma Cooney (Livingston, N.J.) had two hits each in the win.
Caldwell has now won 12 of its last 13, and continues CACC play on Tuesday when it hosts new conference foe Bridgeport (2:30 p.m.)
