WATERBURY, Conn. - Senior catcher
Kyle Richards (Sayreville, N.J.) had two hits in the opener and another in the nightcap as Caldwell fell, 12-6 and 2-1 in a doubleheader at CACC foe Post at Municipal Stadium.
In game one, Caldwell jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a two-run second, capped by a run-scoring single by graduate CF
Joshua Lopez (Nanuet, N.Y.). After a five-run bottom of the second for the Eagles, Lopez's sixth-inning RBI single pulled the Cougars (7-14, 1-7 CACC) to within two at 5-3 before a big seventh inning put the game away for Post (17-12, 7-1)
Game two remained tight until the final out, an RBI double by freshman 3B
Malik Little (Bergenfield, N.J.) in the sixth plating Richards to halve Post's lead to 2-1. But despite getting the tying run on in the seventh the Cougars couldn't get it across.
Freshman righty
John Rigas (Lincoln Park, N.J.) was the hard-luck loser for the Cougars, limiting the Eagles to three hits and one earned run in a complete-game effort.
Caldwell is back in action on Sunday when it hosts Wilmington at Kiwanis Oval in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
