Zach Saunders (Adelphi, Md.) rapped out two hits each, but the Cougars (6-8, 0-1 CACC) stranded 10 runners in a 12-3 loss in the CACC opener for both squads.
Caldwell got off to a fast start, plating three first-inning runs, capped by an RBI double by Lombardi. But Felician (8-15, 1-0 CACC) tallied two in the first and eight more in the second for the commanding lead.
Junior righthander
Trent Williams (Glen Burnie, Md.) was impressive in relief for the Cougars, tossing three innings of two-hit, scoreless relief, fanning two.
The teams resume the three-game series on Friday with a doubleheader at Kiwanis Oval beginning at noon.
