Jahnel Lewis (Jersey City, N.J.) tossed in 22 points and sophomore
Lucy Coogan (Kilkenny, Ireland) had 20, but a late rally by Pace gave the hosts a narrow win over Caldwell Women's Basketball at Ann and Alfred Goldstein Health, Fitness & Recreation Center on Saturday evening at the Pace University Tournament.
The Cougars (1-1) led almost the entire game, taking a 14-point advantage late in the first half on a pair of free throws by freshman
Brooke Corbett's (Staten Island, N.Y.), then briefly led by 15 on a three by soph
Alisa Blalock (Uniondale, N.Y.). Pace chipped away, eventually taking a 65-64 lead with 0:42 left. Two free throws by Coogan with 33 seconds remaining put Caldwell back on top, but a layup an a pair of free throws gave the Setters (1-1) the final margin.
Corbett led the Cougars with six rebounds. Lewis had four rebounds and three steals.
Caldwell next hosts Franklin Pierce on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Newman Center.
