Andre Vieira (Union, N.J.) scored in the 82nd and 88th minutes as Caldwell men's soccer broke open a scoreless match with four tallies in the last 11 minutes to defeat Jefferson, 4-0, in a CACC battle at Ravenhill Field.
Freshman midfielder
Gisle Myrle (Oppdal, Norway) got the Cougars (7-1-1, 3-1-1 CACC) on the scoreboard first, streaking down the left side and taking a through ball from senior forward
Israel Dos Santos Neto (Salvador Bahia, Brazil) and beating the keeper in the 80th minute for his first collegiate goal.
Just over a minute later, Vieira took a pass from CACC assist leader senior midfielder
Murilo DeOliveira (Sao Paulo, Brazil) to double the visitors' advantage.
But the Cougars weren't done, as Neto found the back of the net less than five minutes later, taking a feed from midfield from DeOliveira and blasting an 18-yarder in wih the left foot in the 86th minute.
Vieira capped the late flurry in the 88th by converting a PK. Vieira now has 10 goals and has scored at least one goal in every one of Caldwell's contests.
Sophomore GK
Kevin Sabadin (Mantena, Brazil) notched his fourth shutout, registering three saves and facing 12 shots overall from Jefferson (3-6, 2-3).
The Cougars, now third in the CACC wth 10 points, host Chestnut Hill on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Caldwell Athletic Field.
