CALDWELL, N.J.--Freshman midfielder
Gisle Myrle (Oppdal, Norway) scored in the 38th and 74th minutes, but Chestnut Hill (3-3-1, 2-1-0 CACC) held off a late Caldwell flurry of shots to take a 3-2 win in a CACC men's soccer contest at Caldwell Athletic Field.
After the visitors scored twice in the first 22 minutes, the Cougars got on the board on an electrifying goal by Myrle on a feed from Soph midfielder
Ingebrigt Braenden (Trondheim, Norway). CHC answered less than a minute later to take a 3-1 halftime lead.
The Cougars (7-2-1, 3-2-1 CACC) would close to within 3-2 on another fine goal by Myrle, putting in a rebound off a shot saved off the foot of Braenden and the Cougars had more than 16 minutes to get the equalizer. Though they peppered the CHC goal with shots, taking a 14-2 second half advantage in that category and 22-9 for the game, Chestnut Hill held on for the win.
Caldwell next visits Georgian Court on Saturday at 3 p.m. in Lakewood, N.J. in a key CACC matchup.
