CALDWELL, N.J.--Senior forward
Israel Dos Santos Neto (Salvador Bahia, Brazil) and freshman defender
Yigit Kilic (Istanbul, Turkey) had first-half goals and sophomore GK
Kevin Sabadin (Mantena, Brazil) made seven saves, as Caldwell fell, 4-2, to Bridgeport in the final home game of the regular season and final contest on Caldwell Athletic Field for 12 seniors and graduate students in the program, honored in a pre-game ceremony.
Neto got the Cougars off to a quick start, scoring on a header off a corner kick to the near corner by senior midfielder
Murilo DeOliveira (Sao Paulo, Brazil) in the ninth minute. After UB tied it two minute later, it was Kilic's turn to take a perfectly placed DeOliveira corner and head it in, giving the Cougars as 2-1 lead in the 29th minute, which they'd take into halftime.
But Bridgeport (7-5-3, 5-4-1) got the equalizer in the 49th minute and the go-ahead goal in the 57th, adding an insurance marker 20 minutes later for the final.
The Cougars next visit Goldey Beacom on Saturday at 2:30, with the potential of still earning a home CACC Tournament game, as they currently sit in fourth in the Conference at 5-4-1 (9-4-1 overall).
