CALDWELL, N.J. -- Senior
Reese Sherwood (Salem, Ore.) had team-highs of seven kills and 12 assists and sophomore DS
Torrien Jones (Camp Springs, Md.) led the squad with eight digs as Caldwell volleyball fell to Chestnut Hill (8-12, 7-4 CACC) in a CACC matchup at Newman Center on Saturday afternoon.
After CHC took the first set, and led, 12-9, in the second, the Cougars (1-17, 1-11) battled back, scoring four straight points, three on the serve of senior hitter
Gabriella Maffei (Oak Ridge, N.J.) and including two kills in the run by junior OH
Mya Burnett (Newark, N.J.) to lead, 13-12.
But the visitors ran off seven of the next eight points and eventually took the set, 25-16.
Caldwell fought hard in the third set as well, stringing together four points, again three on Maffei's right arm to close the gap, but CHC finished it off, 25-20.
Burnett and senior middle blocker
Amanda Schiltz (Durham, N.C.) contributed five kills each.
The Cougars next visit West Chester on Monday before returning to the Newman Center next Saturday, Oct. 28, to face Holy Family.
