BRIDGEPORT, Conn.- Caldwell University women's soccer senior
Sarah Costanza (Morris Plains, N.J.) netted a late goal as the Cougars pulled even in a 2-2 draw with the University of Bridgeport in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.
The Cougars move to 2-5-3 overall and 1-2-2 in the CACC, while the Purple Knights stand at 5-3-2 and 4-0-1 in conference play.
Caldwell bookended the scoring in the game as they struck first in the third minute. Sophomore
Alexa Peto (Toms River, N.J.) got the Cougars on the board off an assist from senior
Taylor Gutierrez (Tucson, Ariz.). The Purple Knights pulled even late in the half as the score was tied at 1-1 at halftime.
Bridgeport took the lead with a goal early in the second half but Caldwell netted the equalizer in the waning minutes of the game. Costanza redirected a shot off a free kick from junior
Isabella Tabja (Caracas, Venezuela) in the 88
th minute.
The Cougars managed a tie despite being outshot 19-4 and 12-4 in shots on goal. Bridgeport also held the advantage in corner kicks 5-0.
Senior
Erin Emery (Teaneck, N.J) tallied 10 saves in the game.
The Cougars host Goldey-Beacom College in a CACC contest on Saturday, October 1 at 11 am.
