CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University women's volleyball junior
Reese Sherwood (Salem Ore.) posted a triple-double for the sixth time this season as the Cougars fell short 3-1 to Dominican University of New York in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.
The Cougars fall to 3-7 overall and 2-3 in the CACC, while the Chargers improve to 6-6 and 4-1 in conference play.
Caldwell trailed 11-1 in the opening set before battling back to pull to within 21-20 before falling 25-20. The Cougars fell behind in the second set 10-3 but cam roaring back to pull even at 22. The teams traded points in an exciting set that the Cougars emerged victorious 34-32 to even the match. Dominican took the third set 25-18 and rallied to win the fourth set 25-23 in a tightly contested set.
Sherwood led the way with 15 kills, 20 assists, 13 digs, four blocks and three service aces. Junior
Amanda Schiltz (Durham, N.C.) added nine kills and hosted a block party with six total blocks (four solo).
Freshman
Wyette Schubert-Brown (Chatsworth, N.J.) posted eight kills, while graduate
Shayna Saltzman (Pine Beach, N.J.) finished with 15 assists, two aces and seven digs. Graduate
Humiko Stormer (Luckey, Ohio) recorded a team-high 15 digs in the match.
Caldwell continues conference play as they host Goldey-Beacom College on Saturday, September 24 at 4:30 pm.
