BELMONT, N.C.- Caldwell University women's soccer sophomore
Alexa Peto (Toms River, N.J.) netted a second half goal as the Cougars battled to a 1-1 draw against Belmont Abbey College to close out their season opening road trip.
The Cougars move to 1-0-1 overall, while the Crusaders open their season at 0-0-1.
Belmont Abbey notched goal late in the first half to take the lead in the contest. Caldwell battled back early in the second half as Peto netted the equalizer in the 57
th minute. The teams battled down the stretch with neither team able to score another goal.
The Cougars earned a draw despite being outshot 14-7 and 5-2 in shots on goal. The Crusaders held the edge in corner kicks 6-3.
Senior
Erin Emery (Teaneck, N.J.) stopped four shots in 90 minutes in net in the tie.
The Cougars return back to New Jersey for their home opener as they face Molloy College on Wednesday, August 31 at 4 pm.
