EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa.- The Caldwell University women's volleyball team split a pair of matches as they opened their 2022 season on the road at East Stroudsburg University. The Cougars defeated Pace University 3-2 in the opening match, while falling to the host Warriors 3-1.

The Cougars open their season at 1-1-0, while the Setters drop to 0-2 and the Warriors improve to 2-0.

In the opening match against Pace, Caldwell took the opening set 25-15, while the Setters evened the match with a 26-24 second set win. The Cougars took set three 25-21 and fell in the fourth set 25-20 to force a deciding fifth set. Caldwell rallied from a deficit in the fifth set to win 15-12 and earn their first win of the season.

Junior
Reese Sherwood (Salem, Ore.) led the way with 15 kills, 25 assists, two aces, eight total blocks (five solo) and seven digs. Freshman
Wyette Schubert-Brown (Chatsworth, N.J.) added 14 kills, and three digs while senior
Mary Grace Hartmann (Cutchogue, N.Y.) finished with 13 kills and five blocks (three solo).

Graduate
Humiko Stormer (Luckey, Ohio) led the way with 21 digs, while adding two aces and three assists. Graduate
Shayna Saltzman (Pine Beach, N.J.) posted 15 assists and four digs. Sophomore
Karin Ojeda (Toms River, N.J.) totaled three aces and 15 digs.

In the second match, Caldwell won the opening set against East Stroudsburg 27-25. The Warriors won the next three sets 25-20, 25-16 and 25-15.

Sherwood posted a triple-double with 15 kills, 10 assists and 11 digs. Junior
Amanda Schiltz (Durham, N.C.) contributed seven kills and three solo blocks, while Schubert-Brown finished with seven kills.

Saltzman posted 19 assists and eight digs, while freshman
Gabriella Maffei (Oak Ridge, N.J.) added six kills and three digs. Stormer tallied 21 digs to lead the Cougars.

The Cougars travel to Southern Connecticut State University on Tuesday, August 30 at 7 pm.
