ORANGEBURG, N.Y.- Caldwell University softball senior
Kayla Daly (Babylon, N.Y.) tossed a three-hit shutout in the nightcap as the Cougars earned a split against Dominican College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader. The Chargers won the opener 2-0, while the Cougars took the nightcap 3-0.

The Cougars move to 24-7 overall and 12-2 in the CACC, while Chargers stand at 8-14 and 4-6 in conference play.

In the nightcap, Caldwell collected 10 hits, including a 3-for-3 effort by freshman
Jessica Klein (Trevose, Pa.). The Cougars left 13 runners on bases and were unable to get on the board.

Senior
Mariah Culver (Owego, N.Y.) tossed a complete game, allowing four hits, one being a second inning two-run homerun, while striking out six to fall to 9-2.

Runs were hard to come by in the nightcap as it was the Cougars turn to scored run in the third and seventh innings. Freshman
Ashleigh Tavaska (Jackson, N.J.) reached on a fielder's choice in the third, while freshman
Allison Winters (Blairstown, N.J.) singled. Junior
Courtney Grundhauser (Easton, Pa.) doubled in both runners for a 2-0 lead. Junior
Taylor Mischler (Endicott, N.Y.) add a run in the seventh with a sacrifice fly.

Daly tossed a complete game, three-hit shutout, striking out three to improve to 12-2.

The Cougars travel to Holy Family University for a CACC twin bill on Thursday, April 14 at 11 am at Bensalem High School. Â
