Zach Saunders (Adelphi, Md.) connected on homeruns in the Cougars 7-5 loss to Pace University in a non-conference game.

The Cougars fall to 8-20 overall, while the Setters improve to 15-11.

Caldwell got on the board first as senior
Frank Lehmann (Colonia, N.J.) singled with one out and stole second. Senior
Kyle Richards (Sayreville, N.J.) followed with a double to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead.

Pace answered in their half of the first as they scored twice to take a 2-1 lead. Saunders tied the game in the second with a solo homerun, while Putney's solo shot in the third put the Cougars back in the lead at 3-2.

The Setters scored twice in the third and two more in the fifth to take a 6-3 lead. Caldwell closed the gap in the sixth as freshman
Santo Anzalone (Middle Village, N.Y.) doubled in two runs to trim the score to 6-5. Pace added an insurance run in the seventh inning.

The Cougars host the University of the Science for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader on Wednesday, April 13 at 1 pm at the Kiwanis Oval.
