CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University softball senior
Mariah Culver (Owego, N.Y.) tossed a one-hit shutout in a game one win as the Cougars swept Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader against Bloomfield College to extend their win streak to nine. Caldwell won the opener 5-0 and took game two 4-1.

The Cougars improve to 23-6 overall and 11-1 in the CACC, while Bears drop to 10-21 and 8-6 in conference play.

Culver dominated the opener in the circle as she allowed a leadoff double then retired the next 21 batters en route to a game one win. She improved to 9-1 on the season, allowing one hit, no walk and struck out six.

The game remained scoreless until the fifth when the Cougars started a two-out rally. Senior
Lauren Stansell (Plantation, Fla.) reached base on a bunt single with two outs. Caldwell followed with three more singles as freshman
Jessica Klein (Trevose, Pa.) singled and junior
Taylor Mischler (Endicott, N.Y.) singled to score Stansell with the first run of the game. Senior
Maya Rodriguez (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) singled in Klein, while the Cougars pulled off a double steal, allowing Mischler to score for a 3-0 lead.

The Cougars added two runs in the sixth as senior
Emma Cooney (Livingston, N.J.) doubled in a run, while graduate
Paige Sandoval (Aliso Viejo, Calif.) followed later in the inning with a sacrifice fly.

In the nightcap, Caldwell scored twice in the opening inning as Klein led off with a double and scored on a Rodriguez triple. Rodriguez scored later in the inning on a Bear error for a 2-0 lead. Bloomfield got a run back in the third to cut the score to 2-1.

In the third, Mischler led off with a double and scored on a run scoring double by freshman
Allison Winters (Blairstown, N.J.). The Cougars added a run in the fourth as Cooney reached base on a leadoff single. Klein tripled with two outs to extend the lead to 4-1.

Senior
Kayla Daly (Babylon, N.Y.) turned in a complete game effort to improve to 11-2, allowing one run on four hits with six strikeouts.
