HEMPSTEAD, N.Y.- The Caldwell University men's rugby team competed in their inaugural Tri-State Conference 7s Championship on Sunday, reaching the quarterfinals for the first time in program history.
 
The Cougars went 2-1 in the group play, taking second place. Caldwell won their first two matches as they defeated Maritime College 20-10 and Marist College B 22-10. The Cougars fell to Fairfield University 27-7, securing second place in the group to reach the quarterfinals.
 
In the quarterfinals, the Cougars fell short to Marist A 30-7.
