WILMINGTON, Del.- The Caldwell University baseball team fell in conference doubleheader to Wilmington University. The Wildcats took the opener 12-1 and won the nightcap 8-5.

The Cougars fall to 5-8 overall and 0-2 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, while the Wildcats improve to 10-2 and 3-0 in conference play.

Caldwell was held to three hits in the opener as freshman
Santo Anzalone (Middle Village, N.Y.) scored the lone run in the fourth inning on a Wilmington error.

In the nightcap, senior
Frank Lehmann (Colonia, N.J.) tripled to lead off the first inning. Senior
Kyle Richards (Sayreville, N.J.) followed with a double for a 1-0 Caldwell lead.

Wilmington rallied back with four runs in the fourth and four more in the fifth to take an 8-1 lead.

Caldwell battled back in the sixth as they plated four runs. Freshman
Liam Lombardi (Stony Point, N.Y.) drove in one run with a single, while junior
Elias Negron (Virginia Beach, Va.) added a sacrifice fly for the second run of the inning. Sophomore
Zach Saunders (Adelphi, Md.) and Lehmann added run scoring singles to cut the score to 8-5. Â
