WEST CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University men's lacrosse sophomore
Jayden Paladino (Hawthorne, N.J.) netted four goals as the Cougars came up short to Dominican College 11-10 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.
The Cougars fall to 2-4 overall and 0-1 in the CACC, while the Chargers improve to 4-3 and 1-0 in conference play.
Caldwell took the early lead with four of the game's first five goals. Paladino netted three goals, including two man-up tallies, while sophomore
Cory Barrera (West Babylon, N.Y.) added one goal for a 4-1 lead early in the second quarter.
Dominican closed the half with three of the next four goals to cut the score to 5-4 at halftime. Paladino scored to break up the Dominican run in the quarter.
The Cougars extended their lead in the third quarter as they outscored Dominican 5-2. Junior
Kevin Albright (Mays Landing, N.J.) scored three goals in the quarter, while junior
Michael Brown (Glenolden, Pa.) and junior
Owen Healey (Washington, N.J.) found the back of the net to take a 10-6 lead heading to the final quarter.
The Chargers rallied in the fourth quarter as they pulled even at 10-10 with 3:53 left in the game. Dominican netted the go-ahead goal at the 2:24 mark and withstood two final Caldwell shots in the final seconds to take the win.
Paladino led the way with four goals, while sophomore
Jason Staudte (Sound Beach, N.Y.) added three assists. Albright finished with three goals and four ground balls.

Shane Murphy (Middletown, N.J.) recorded 20 saves in 60 minutes of play in net.
The Cougars host Wilmington University for a CACC contest Saturday, March 26 at 12 pm at Essex Valley Field in West Caldwell.
