March Drives in Three Runs as Baseball Falls to Bentley

LAKE WORTH, Fla.- Caldwell University baseball senior Jalen March (Baltimore, Md.) drove in three runs as the Cougars fell to Bentley University 12-6 in a non-conference game.
 
The Cougars fall to 4-3 on the season, while the Falcons improve to 3-9.
 
Bentley took the early lead with two runs in the first inning. The Cougars rallied in the third as March and senior Kyle Richards (Sayreville, N.J.) singled with two outs. They stole a base to move into scoring position and freshman Santo Anzalone (Middle Village, N.Y.) followed with a double to tie the game at 2-2.
 
Caldwell took the lead in the fourth as they loaded the bases with one out. March drove in a run with a single to go up 3-2. Bentley tied the game in their half of the fourth but the Cougars retook the lead as they scored on a Falcon error in the top of the fifth.
 
The Falcons battled back to push ahead with a six-run fifth inning to take a 9-4 lead. Caldwell closed the gap in the sixth as junior Elias Negron (Virginia Beach, Va.) and senior Frank Lehmann (Colonia, N.J.) led off with singles. March drove in both runners with a two-run single to cut the score to 9-6.
 
Bentley added three runs over the final two innings to take a 12-6 lead.
 
The Cougars take on nationally ranked Nova Southeastern University on Wednesday, March 16 at 6 pm at the Santaluces Sports Complex.
